G.L Yancy: Author of Woven Branches, a Novella Series
G.L. Yancy is the creative force behind Woven Branches, a Southern novella series that blends soap opera-style drama with the charm and intrigue of small-town life in the fictional Noeware, Georgia. As a native of Atlanta, Georgia, G.L. brings a deep understanding of Southern culture and its diverse characters to his storytelling, which is uniquely showcased in his take on the American soap opera.
In Woven Branches, readers are introduced to a colorful cast, including: Mayor Ruth "Ruthless" Blakely, Nadine Bassette, the town madam, Billy Washington, the flamboyant hash slinger and part-time drag queen, Allison Edwards, a journalism student from Atlanta, and Delvenia Montrose, a mysterious swamp witch from Belize. The series is set in Tennyson County’s fictional seat, Noeware, where drama, intrigue, and Southern charm meet.
G.L.'s passion for storytelling began early in life, inspired by the era of daytime television saturated with soap operas. As a child, he would cut paper dolls from old Sears and JC Penney catalogs and create elaborate scenes, acting out his own soap operas long before he ever wrote them down. With a degree in Communication from Mercer University, and fueled by his lifelong love for the soap opera genre, G.L. eventually turned to self-publishing to share his stories with the world.
Now residing in the Rome, Georgia area with his husband of 23 years and their Maine Coons, Saffron and Sawyer, G.L. continues to captivate readers with his richly developed characters and serialized Southern dramas.
As we say in the South, pull up a chair, grab an ice-cold glass of sweet tea, and dive into the world of Woven Branches. It just might become your new guilty pleasure.
